Circus Kids is a film about an eclectic youth circus troupe from St. Louis who travel to Israel to join another troupe comprised of Jewish and Arabic children. It is a story of how a group of very different kids find out they are not so different after all. The St. Louis Arches is made up of children from a wide spectrum of social, economic, racial and religious backgrounds. Jessica Hentoff, the founder and head of this unique group of children, has successfully proven that it doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you’ve been through, just who you are. Furthering her experimentation in reversing social castes, Hentoff takes the Arches to Israel where a kindred spirit runs a similar program. Rabbi Mark Rosenstein created the Galilee Circus in an effort to bridge the gap between Arabs and Jews at Israel’s most fundamental level: its children. This extraordinary film captures these incredibly talented kids being kids, in conflict and friendship, breaking down borders and finding common ground.
