Have you ever been stuck in an elevator? You can probably see the comedy in that. And the drama. BETWEEN FLOORS examines the human condition through a uniquely claustrophobic lens, intercutting between five stuck elevators and the people trapped inside them. Often funny, incredibly poignant, the tales include a lone business man, a man with a video camera, a family on their way to a party, a bloodied business man with a gorilla in drag, and an incredibly packed lift. Each elevator becomes an existential purgatory, forcing its occupants to not only confront their isolation, but themselves and each other in varied and unexpected ways. Taking place entirely in five elevators and shot in hour long, structured improvisations, BETWEEN FLOORS is as unusual as it is arresting, blurring the lines of genre, tone and form while its characters are stripped bare -- trapped, alone, waiting -- and we get to watch what happens.

The Vagrant of Ephemera
Pacific NW Premiere!
Directed by Charles Chadwick
Filmmaker in attendance for Sunday showing only
United States. 9 minutes.

Society has its ephemera...things that were useful for a time, then discarded. This goes for places as well. This film documents my wanderings through three places in California that have been deserted, or nearly so. Drawbridge...an old speakeasy town built in the middle of marshlands that now lies abandoned and sinking. Alviso...a once booming port town now ghostly due to its lack of use. And China Camp...an old Chinese fishing village cut down to two residents and a score of disused boats. I am their vagrant.

Me or the Porn
West Coast Premiere!
Directed by Ryan Mains

Canada. 5 minutes.

When Dean’s secret stash of online porn is discovered by his girlfriend Colette, his foot-in-mouth excuses for his beloved collection prompt and exasperated Colette to issue the classic ultimatum: “it’s me or the porn.”
