SIXES AND THE ONE EYED KING

Directed by Ray Nomoto Robison
United States, 98 Minutes
Drama/Thriller

SAT APR 18, 7:45pm

Filmmakers Ray Nomoto Robison & Scott Ford in attendance

Inspired by B-movies and old television shows, this intriguing modern day tragedy follows six suicidal contestants as they participate in a reality internet service which allows subscribers to wager on the outcome of a series of Russian Roulette style games. One by one, the contestants are eliminated in their effort to win the game and become an instant multi-millionaire. The web service is rigorously monitored and strictly for those international high rollers who love the thrill of life and death competition. It’s a twisted premise, but America’s obsession with reality television has grown to a fever pitch. What’s the next step? Tensions rise as the odds get narrower, and they reach absolute boiling point when a subscriber believes he recognizes one of the contestants as his missing cousin. Shot in a stark, film noir style reminiscent of crime movies of the 40s and 50s, the nervous, sweaty close-ups and harsh, dramatic shadows give the film a gritty, uncompromised tone.
