LONDON TO BRIGHTON
OREGON PREMIERE!

Directed by Paul Andrew Williams
UK, 85 mins.
Drama
Saturday, 9:00 pM, Salem Cinema

A brilliantly unflappable, double-barreled debut from Brit writer/director Paul Andrew Williams and his fresh, breakthrough talent, London to Brighton is a fast-paced, harrowing experience. Leaving us with no time for questions at the get-go, the film starts off like a shot with a primped up preteen and a scantily dressed woman hiding out in a public washroom after a mysterious, but clearly disturbing, incident. With its gradual, intense reveal, the pieces chillingly fall into place, introducing the seedy situation into which Joanne and Kelly have fallen. You won’t regret following their horrifying dash to escape from the likes of an unsavory, sleazy pimp and his high-profile client’s sadistic son. Mixing traces of lurid, underground pulp crime with the ruthlessly brutal realism and hardship of street-life, the crackling momentum doesn’t let up for a second.

United States, 10 mins.

Filmmaker Stephen Krystek In Attendance!

Lifelong friends, Gene and Lenny spend their days drifting through alleyways, begging for change and surviving on the streets. When an opportunity arises that could change both of their lives, Gene begins to doubt Lenny's methods of survival.

Stephen Krystek (Director of Drain)

Art has been in Stephen's life since birth. With painters, poets, and photographers from both sides of his family, it was not a surprise when he began drawing before he could walk. Encouraged and supported by his parents (selling their Phoenix Suns season tickets to put him in college) he honed his drawing skills and began his career in website development. He used the extra money from building websites to fund Krzystek Production's first film, Not Quite Dead and continues to build websites to fund future ventures.
