This call heralds to youth under 18 and amateurs 18 and over, not claiming filmmaker as a primary profession, with original films to screen to a sophisticated audience. A jury of media professionals and enthusiasts will review all film submissions for the Youth and Amateur categories. Those receiving rave reviews will be shown during special engagements at the IKE Box prior to the festial. Award winning films will be honored with a special festival screening Saturday, April 21st at The Historic Elsinore Theatre.
SCREENINGS & AWARDS FOR THE FOLLOWING ENTRIES
Short Narrative:
A narrative is a story; show us one in your submission. Fictional scripted Youth and Amateur productions will be judged. 10-minute maximum entry length; excerpts of longer productions are accepted.
Abstract/Artistic:
Visual experiments and expressions in audio-visual media compete here. This is an all-encompassing category for Youth and Amateur productions: visual-poems, music videos, cinematography reels, etc. 5-minute maximum entry length; excerpts of longer productions are accepted.
Non-Fiction:
The key is real narrative, documentary, and journalism; show us what you’ve seen in your world. This category has a 10-minute maximum entry length. Excerpts of longer productions are accepted.
All submissions will be juried; outstanding work will be judged, and then awarded at special screening engagements. Judged selections in each class will be scored in categories including Writing, Performance, Cinematography and Editing. Awards will be given to BIC (Best In Class) — the highest scoring production in each entry class for both Youth and Amateur — and TM (Technical Merit) — non-BIC receiving highest individual scores in scoring categories).
