“A beautifully written and realized behind-the-scenes story aiming to make some sense of all the violence and chaos in Iraq today.” -FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL

Lauded as the first U.S. feature film to tackle current affairs in Iraq, THE SITUATION is a brave, bare-bones exploration of the tangled web of violence and corruption behind the headlines in today’s newspapers. Scripted by an American correspondent who has seen first-hand the dehumanization that war causes, from all angles, in all cultures, this vivid and gutsy dramatization utilizes blonde journalist Anna (Connie Nielsen) as a vehicle in the limited quest for truth and dignity among a multiplying group of people vying for control. The CIA, the U.S. Military, the Iraq police, and the Iraqi community and underground leaders, each with their own agenda, give rise to the treacherous tapestry of turmoil caused by global miscommunication in a ravaged country, making it clear that there are no easy answers for any of us. Thrillingly paced and melding fascinating fragments of romance, suspicion and intrigue into the political backdrop, THE SITUATION is a powerful, deep-rooted portrayal of humanity and longing.
