“Paul Schneider is downright hilarious…his perfect comic timing imbues Lagrand with some comical physical characteristics that are off the chart.” –FILM THREAT
Madcap doesn’t begin to describe this offbeat indie comedy from Seinfeld writing team Gregg Kavet and Andy Robin. Attempting to escape the dreariness of his small New Hampshire hometown and live up to his alleged legendary outlaw status, John “Rugged” Rudgate (Aaron Stanford) goes about trying to convince his dimwitted pal Lagrand (Paul Schneider) to let him take a stab as security guard at a newly acquired storage business by showing off his rough side. Trouble is, he’s not nearly so dangerous as he aspires to be. When things inadvertently spiral out of control and an emotionally volatile cop (Michael Rappaport) helms an investigation into the strange, suspicious activities, the hapless Rugged is on the fence as to whether he should come clean or convince everyone he’s the desperado he yearns to be. Droll, quirky and unpredictable, LIVE FREE OR DIE, with its comparisons to oddly appealing gems such as BOTTLE ROCKET and NAPOLEON DYNAMITE will leave you glued to your seat and cheering for the underdog – unless, of course, you’re rolling in the aisle!
