Comedy / Gay Interest
“Wade challenges with humor, compassion and a sense of absurdity the tyranny of stereotypes, gay or straight, and knee-jerk political correctness.” -LOS ANGELES TIMES

With its amusing, warm-hearted twist on romance, COFFEE DATE is filled to the brim with genuine affection and charm. Recently divorced, Todd (Jonathan Bray) allows his affable, deadbeat brother Barry (Jonathan Silverman) to arrange a blind date for him with Kelly. While waiting uncomfortably for her to show up, Todd strikes up a conversation with a charismatic, feisty, gay man (Wilson Cruz). The two mull over their shared passion for cinema right before discovering that Cruz is the Kelly that Todd has been set up to meet. After choosing to pursue their new unexpected friendship, rumors quickly fly that Todd is gay, Mom (Sally Kirkland) flies in to offer support, and emotional confusion ensues. COFFEE DATE is fresh and delightfully unpredictable, an exceptionally engaging story about our capacity to connect and embrace the differences that make us who we are – or who we might become.
