SHOW ME THE PATH

The Salem Film Festival Youth & Amateur Competition (SFF-YAC) has been created for the spectator, the student, and the amateur film lover. Everyone has taken, and is on, a different path in their life, and the public wants to see your vision, wants to walk your path. Screenings of your work and informational forums will be held during the week prior to the festival at the IKE Box, and then there will be a special award screening during the festival at The Historic Elsinore Theatre.

Join professionals as they discuss their respective “Paths” into the film industry. This is a career exploration event and discussion opportunity; questions regarding industry survival and success are encouraged.

General admission to all IKE Box engagements is $5
General admission to all Historic Elsinore Theatre engagements is $8

Each group that entered the SFF YAC is entitled to 2 complimentary tickets for all “SHOW ME THE PATH” screening events. Panel discussions are not included. Please reply by email ASAP to jason@salemfilmfestival.com with names of recipients & film-title to reserve free admission tickets. All complimentary tickets must be reserved before each of the 3 screening events.
We encourage you to invite friends and family to come and enjoy your hard work and talent on the big screen! If you would like to purchase extra tickets for family and friends for the Awards Ceremony at the Elsinore, you can do so at the Historic Elsinore Theatre Box Office in advance or buy them on the day of the event. All tickets for events at the IKE Box Movie House will be sold at the door Tuesday and Wednesday night.

The SFF Youth & Amateur Competition was thrilled to again offer this additional category to showcase our contestants’ filmmaking talents.

Their Challenge:
Filmmakers received instructions including a Character, Prop, Line of Dialogue, and Genre on Friday March 16th at 5:00 pm. They then had until Monday March 19th at 5:00 pm to mail the finished, original, project on DVD. Submissions are being juried and outstanding work will receive awards at a special screening engagement. Come join us…you’ll be amazed!

Featuring

Greg Palmer

Has worked approx. 25 years in feature films as assistant director and also in post production as assistant editor. Worked on many films for director Norman Jewison (such as Rollerball, FIST, Moonstruck) and most recently “Little Children” with Todd Fields and for Guillermo Del Toro on “Blade 2”. Also has worked on episodic TV, Academy Awards and staff editoral at Paramount and Sony Pictures. Greg is currently working on original screenplays and also with other development writers.

Krystal Palmer

Graduated in film studies in history and criticism from University of Oregon. Worked in story development as a “reader” and also assistant editor for San Fransico based film companies such as Lucasfilm and American Zoetrope. Most recent film work was own script subtitling business with clients in foreign distribution department of Paramount Studios, MGM, Sony Pictures and numerous independents.


Scott Hossner

Scott is President and CEO of Allied Video Productions, the area’s premiere independent production facility. Scott has degrees from Oregon State University in Speech Communications as well as a technical degree in Television Production. He has received numerous local, regional and national awards in writing, directing and editing. In his role at AVP, Scott has worked on a vast array of projects including short films, Documentaries, TV commercials and live television/event production. In addition to his production experience, Scott is an avid film buff and home theatre specialist. Scott is proud of Allied Video Production’s role in the creation of the Salem Film Festival and looks forward to many more years of independent film in Salem.

Ismael Moreno

Casting Director/Producer Involved with entities such as “Wedding Crashers” to icons like Tommy Hilfiger and Haim Saban. I am currently Casting/Co-Producing a feature in the industry. My casting company was started last year and is in development.
